From Lockdown to War
These are painful times for those who saw it all coming, event by event in a matter of a few short years. Wreck rights and liberties and you destroy law and tradition too, and tempt states and state actors the world over with dangerous uses of violence. History presents many cases of terrible policy ideas that end in war or multiple wars.
Is this our fate? It already seems to be our reality, at home and abroad. One might suppose that there would be lessons here. But the same history teaches that regimes that do not care about the well-being of societies will stop at nothing to maintain power and control.
Fortunately for us, and for now, we still have the right to speak and tell the truth. That is the goal of Brownstone Institute’s public mission. The more private side of the mission is helping other truth-tellers avoid complete marginalization and personal devastation from their willingness to stand up for what is right during extremely difficult times.
Tickets just went live for our second-ever Philadelphia Supper Club, to be held on Thursday, May 2nd. Our first event was a major success, and we look forward to hosting special guest and food freedom advocate Tracy Thurman.
And will you join us at Supper Club in West Hartford on Wednesday? We have about 20 spots remaining. Regardless, we always appreciate your generous support of our work.
Here is some content since our last email.
What Happened to Bitcoin? By Jeffrey Tucker. This is the book that had to be written. It is a story of a missed opportunity to change the world, a tragic tale of subversion and betrayal. But it is also a hopeful story of efforts we can make to ensure that the hijacking of Bitcoin is not the final chapter. There is still the chance for this great innovation to liberate the world but the path from here to there turns out to be more circuitous than any of us ever imagined.
Is Paxlovid a Dud? By Maryanne Demasi. Of all the antiviral drugs for Covid-19, Pfizer’s Paxlovid has been the most successful. Not for its safety and efficacy, but for its ability to earn the company billions in profits despite being largely ineffective for most people.
EPA Threatens Locally Produced Beef By Robert Malone. The new rule involves a major shift in the technology-based effluent limitations guidelines and standards (ELGs) for the meat and poultry industry, threatening their livelihoods by forcing them to add water filtration systems to their facilities.
Data Betrayed the Supposed ‘Apocalypse’ By Eyal Shahar. Like everyone, I have been following the news from the Far East since the beginning of the year. Although infectious diseases were not my subject matter research, epidemiologists are trained to think critically, to question what many accept at face value. The picture that emerged was far from clear. A few observations did not fit well with the apocalyptic predictions.
Deborah Birx Gets Her Close-Up By Bill Rice. According to the documentary, “career bureaucrats” like Birx somehow seized control of the executive branch of government and were able to issue orders to mayors and governors which effectively “shut down the country.”
The Death and Resurrection of Science By Peter Gotzsche. We must fight with everything we have against governments that behave in a dictatorial manner, against the evidence, using substandard experts, “for our own good,” as they say. The best way forward is to learn as much as possible about the methods governments used to suppress and distort the science. The Great Barrington Declaration, which has received almost a million signatures, was an important milestone. We need to establish an international cooperation of scientists at the highest level who will stand together and never again accept to be silenced when the next pandemic hits us.
How Awesome is the Deep State, Really? By Debbie Lerman. Finally, if you agree with me that my cast of Covid characters much more closely represents what we actually mean by that term, what does this tell us about how the Deep State is now encroaching on the lives of the civilian public in the homeland, rather than sticking to its pre-2020 playbook of sucking up resources by destroying and then rebuilding foreign countries?
Dreams of “Vaccine Hub Germany” By Robert Kogon. Was all of Germany turned into a stage for Covid theatre, with 80 million Germans forced into the role of extras, all in order to help realise the “dream” (as Jürgen Kirchner has put it) of “vaccine hub Germany?”
A Retired Physician’s View of American Healthcare By Steven Kritz. In my opinion, the healthcare system in this country is currently on life support. The level of trust is lower than it’s been in at least 50 years and deservedly so. While many probably believe that the negative impact on the healthcare system’s reputation is based on the nation’s Covid response, I will endeavor to provide, from the perspective of a retired physician and patient, a roadmap that brings all of the elements of the healthcare system together to explain how the disastrous Covid response merely highlighted the rot, rather than being its cause.
Did Lockdowns Set a Global Revolt in Motion? By Jeffrey Tucker. The slogan became popular about ten years ago: the revolution will be decentralized with the creation of robust parallel institutions. There is no other path. The intellectual parlor game is over. This is a real-life struggle for freedom itself. It’s resist and rebuild or doom.
CDC Quietly Admits to Covid Policy Failures By Harvey Risch. In so many words—and data—CDC has quietly admitted that all of the indignities of the Covid-19 pandemic management have failed: the masks, the distancing, the lockdowns, the closures, especially the vaccines, all of it failed to control the pandemic.
Nightmares of the Elite By Bill Rice. People we’ve been led to believe are “learned” are actually shockingly ignorant (or plain evil). But these people will still be leading these organizations tomorrow and 10 years from today. I didn’t know this knowledge would cause me to have recurring nightmares, but it has. My dream’s definitely telling me to write about this, which I’ve now done. Maybe I’ll now get a peaceful night’s sleep.
Government and the WHO Quietly Shake Hands By Mike Fairclough. It would be unforgivable for the public not to be given more clarity on this important issue. We must see the full detail of what we are being signed up to. The time to speak up about it is now, rather than after the event. If there is nothing for the government and the WHO to hide, they should disclose this information. The British public has a right to know and we should be given an opportunity to either accept or reject what is being proposed behind closed doors.
Exactly What Are WHO Member States Voting for? By REPPARE. Continuously conflating the concept of pandemic preparedness and PHEIC only creates confusion while obscuring the obvious political processes involved. If the WHO wants to convince the world to prepare for pandemics, and calm down fears of potential misuse of the pandemic label via a new governance process, then they need to provide clarity on what they are actually talking about.
The WHO’s Road to Totalitarianism By Bert Olivier. In a nutshell, it means that this unelected organisation would have the authority to proclaim lockdowns and ‘medical (or health) emergencies,’ as well as mandatory ‘vaccinations’ at the whim of the WHO’s Director-General, reducing the freedom to traverse space freely to ironclad spatial confinement in one fell swoop. This is what ‘total terror’ would mean. It is my fervent hope that something can still be done to avert this imminent nightmare.
Hate the Bad, Love the Good By Rev. John F. Naugle. The enemies of humanity want to prevent us from hating the bad and loving the good by making us afraid of being accused of hatred. In a world in crisis because our leaders are bad, our food is bad, our medicine and public health are bad, our schools are bad, our broken families are bad, our entertainment and music is bad, our infrastructure is bad, inflation is bad, and even the adjudication of dangerous and violent criminals in our major cities is bad, silence and self-censorship become a most dangerous refusal to love the good, to love neighbor, and ultimately to love God.
