To comment on “International ‘upsurge’”, 27/11- Do you want an example of how conflicted our self-described “leaders” are?
Last Tuesday (21/11) we read about federal environment and minister Tanya Plibersek’s “$200m boost to improve reef’s water quality”.
That means redirecting taxpayers’ cash away from hospitals and to groups whose continued funding relies on claims that the Reef is in peril.
That crushed tourism for years and caused millions of dollars in losses. Now we read that the federal tourism minister Don Farrell is hoping for a “dramatic upsurge in international tourists”, (“International ‘upsurge’”, 27/11) - straight after his colleague has funded professional tourism killers.
Either this federal Labor government is clueless or it is working to destroy our most sustainable industries and with them, our economy. Jennifer Short Edge Hill

I'll take both, with a slight amendment, as true Jennifer.
ALL Australian governments are clueless AND are working to destroy our most sustainable industries and our economy AND give away our Sovereignty.

Re: Labor ‘obsessed’ with ‘renewables’
The Editor The Cairns Post
Labor is indeed “‘obsessed’ with ‘renewables’,” but it’s a bit rich for the Liberals to be criticising them, (Labor ‘obsessed’ with ‘renewables’, 27/11).
The Liberals are nearly as bad in their anti-scientific support for a solution that won’t work for a problem that doesn’t exist.
The only place for renewables is on boats or in remote areas: they cannot run a grid.
No city or town, much less state or country, has ever “transitioned to renewables.”
I don’t support nuclear energy.
It needs a society with the long-term stability provided by recognising facts.
Ours is in decline because everything is viewed through a distorted ideological lens.
If the staff walk away from an operating nuclear plant there’ll be big problems.
Walk away from an operating coal plant and it just goes out and shuts down.
If CO2-warming was real, (gas physics proves it’s not), only China could stop it.
They’re opening new coal-fired generators every week.
The Labor-Liberal twins are as stupid as each other and their supporters are voting themselves back to the stone age.

Peter,
I do support nuclear energy but that is a good point about the reliability of staff to maintain and operate an operating Nuclear Power Plant!
Though France seems to be able to successfully do it and they have a single nuclear plant design for all 56, count them, of their operating plants.
But to repeat what I said above,
ALL Australian governments are clueless AND are working to destroy our most sustainable industries and our economy AND give away our Sovereignty.

Re: More immigrants call
The Editor The Cairns Post
The richer a person is and the higher on the corporate ladder they are, the more disconnected they seem to become from reality, (More immigrants call, 27/11).
More immigrants might help resolve a short-term issue for them, but it will create much bigger long-term problems for everyone else.
What we really need to resolve “sticky services inflation” is to slash regulations.
Even Trump’s team was surprised at the economic boom that came from his mild de-regulation.
We also need to end wokeness in education, slash university funding due to that sector’s reality-denying habits, and train our own working-age people to do real jobs.
Combine these two things with slashing total taxes paid by individuals to no more than 15 percent of gross income and the economic boom would be staggering.
The Labor-Liberal twins won’t do that, of course, because they’re owned and operated by globalists who want to destroy free-market capitalism.

For all its much vaunted supposed benefits it turns out that 'globalism' is another word for communism.

Re: Assisted dying now an option
The Editor The Daily Telegraph
If you understand left-wing salami slice politics, then you’ll be horrified by voluntary assisted dying laws, (Assisted dying now an option, 27/11).
It starts with “terminally ill patients” but before long it’s widened, as it has been in Canada and Holland, to include, for example, depressed teenagers.
Soon the elderly will be pressured into “voluntary assisted dying” to make their estates available for their children and to “free up resources.”
It’s a very slippery slope – and you’re on it.
Governments have no business being involved in killing their own people: not abortion, not VAD, and not the death penalty.
Notice governments never advocate for the death penalty for traitors, murderers, or paedophiles, despite many citizens wanting it?
There’s a reason for that. Can you guess what it is?

And they decriminalised being a traitor. Nothing to see here.
Try to get the very precise, apt description of " a traitor" to be noticed.
It's been my experience that when calling traitors what they are, traitors........you may as well be yelling in to a bucket of sand.........it's like the death jab....no one wants to contemplate they exist.
They do, and they are destroying us. Greg Hunt was a senior member, (the director of strategy) of the WEF.
That is being a traitor. Being actively at war with the people he's supposed to serve.
The list is long.
