Some 50 local communities in the country have formed a coalition to resist the wreck and ruin inflicted by wind and solar facilities.
Our Energy Realist colleague Bill Stinson has been in touch with the leaders of the movement for months and this week he became the Secretary of the committee as a reward (or perhaps a punishment) for his efforts. As Oscar Wilde said "No good deed goes unpunished."
The Energy Realists will support the coalition with research to ensure that their objections are evidence-based and will stand up to fact-checking. We will also help them to make the case that they are not just ;protecting their own surroundings because the wind and solar industry is a human and environmental disaster all the way from mining in remote countries to disposal of toxic waste in local landfill.
FOR METROPOLITAN READERS: WILL HAPPER IS COMING
From the IPA. I am excited to invite you to join us and be a part of a special tour, Integrity in Climate Science, led by Professor William Happer.
Professor Happer is Professor Emeritus of Physics at Princeton University
He served as Director of Energy Research in the Department of Energy under President George Bush Sr,
And Deputy Assistant on the National Security Council in the Trump administration (essentially the President's climate science advisor.)
I encourage you to bring your friends and family along to hear Professor Happer speak. If they are not a member, this is an ideal occasion to join the IPA, with a discounted $55 membership that comes with a complimentary ticket to your nearest event.
The dates for the events are as follows (all starting at 5:30pm):
Perth, Tuesday 12th September at the Ritz-Carlton Perth
Melbourne, Friday 15th September at the Ritz-Carlton Melbourne
Sydney, Monday 18th September at Four Seasons Sydney
Brisbane, Wednesday 20th September at Sofitel Brisbane Central
You can find more details and book your tickets here.
