RE: Focus on science, Letters, 19/06
The Editor The Cairns Post
To say all scientists are left-wing is the “absurd absolute” logical fallacy, (Focus on science, 19/06). But those who approve the grants scientists rely on are all left-wing.
If seas-level rise was a threat, banks wouldn’t lend for property just above current sea-level. But they do, including in really expensive markets like London and New York.
The linear trend line on NOAA’s Fort Denison graph should be curving upwards in line with Asia’s skyrocketing emissions. But it’s not, it only shows post-Little Ice Age thermal expansion.
The linear trend in 1886 was <1mm/yr. Halfway through the record (1953) it was <1mm/yr. At the end of the record (2021) it was <1mm/yr. I.e., no acceleration from industrialisation.
If Councils were reacting to settled science on accelerating sea-level rise, they’d be building sea walls like the Dutch have. But they’re not.
If we’d had “3.3mm/year” sea-level rise since 1995 and each 10mm (three years) had seen “beaches retreat by up to one metre” our local beaches would be 9.3 metres narrower now. Lol!
Climate alarmism is all cherry-picking and arm-waving assertions, but it’s costing us big-time - and Asia gets stronger as we get weaker.

To comment on five stories, 19/06 -In just a few pages of the Cairns Post there’s problem after problem directly caused by governments.
The possible early release of a sick killer when his wife is never coming back, (“Acid man’s parole nod”): government policy.
A housing shortage due to excessively high building standards, (“Extra houses hit brick wall”): government policy.
Rampant youth crime, (“Artist ‘dragged along the road’”): government policy.
People drowning in boat accidents because they can’t fly, (“Grounded by bureaucracy”): government policy.
Pharmacies being forced out of business, (“Policy to lead to chemist closures”): government policy. Our Constitution is a contract between the people and the government. It requires our representatives to “serve the will of the people”. But they don’t.
They’re not serving our will anymore; they’re serving the will of unelected foreign organisations.
Our representatives are obeying foreigners and creating the problems we’re suffering. Jennifer Short Edge Hill
