It was intriguing for me to read the comments under your article!
Your suggestion/recommendation that we should be stockpiling replacement/backup electricity grid 'gear' should be the first part of our National Defense Strategy along with some oil wells and a refinery, or 2.
But of course, WE do not control our future.

I grew up on a 3,500 acre rice farm on the western edge of the NSW Riverina irrigation area.
The land is similar to Hay Plains in character but bounded by The Murray River to the south and The Edwards River to the north.
Without irrigation it is not very viable.
That Wong 'chap' followed by that Turnbull 'thing' did their level best to plant the seeds of destruction of The Murray-Darling Basin to destroy irrigation.
Without electricity you can forget about irrigation and food growing areas in Australia.
Years ago The Club of Rome stated that Australia should go back to its Aboriginal tribes/families wandering for native food in the pristine wilderness.
I would think that is the reason they have kept so many Aboriginal isolated in hell-hole communities.
My forebears were Cornish and Irish.
