There are reasons boards such as TAIHS become subject to accusations relating to “ethics”, “professional standards”, “irresponsible decisions”, and the “ability to be transparent … on financial management”.
Two of my favourite journalists, John O’Sullivan and the late Jerry Pournelle, described those reasons in “O’Sullivan’s first law” and “Pournelle's iron law of bureaucracy”.
O’Sullivan: "All organisations that are not explicitly right-wing will over time become left-wing."
The further left an organisation drifts the more likely it will collapse from corruption: see every communist country ever.
Pournelle: “In any bureaucracy, the people devoted to the benefit of the bureaucracy itself always get in control and those dedicated to the goals that the bureaucracy is supposed to accomplish have less and less influence, and sometimes are eliminated entirely.”
Leftist boards get taken over by those who use their positions for purposes not within the board’s original mission.
Publicly-funded boards always drift left because they’re not “explicitly right-wing” and get taken over by those “devoted to the benefit of the bureaucracy”.
Publicly-funded boards are like nappies: they need changing regularly and for the same reasons.

Dr Gillian Hirth of the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency, (10-15 years needed for nuclear power plant, 15/05), sounds suspiciously like an embedded activist.
Small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) aren’t new: the nuclear-powered submarine USS Nautilus was launched 69 years ago.
SMRs are safe and well-tested: most navy submarines have one, aircraft carriers commonly have two.
SMRs are commercially available from GE, Rolls Royce, and NuScale, among others – each only awaiting regulatory approval in various interested countries.
If the activist class genuinely believed that CO2 is a threat to climate they would lobby as hard for SMRs as they do against coal.
They don’t because it’s not about CO2 – it’s about pricing you out of electricity and the planned collapse of Western civilisations.

Speaking as a former greenie who noticed that no climate alarm predictions eventuated over the last 35 years, I’m sceptical of predictions of a “super El Niño”, (‘Super Niño’s’ extreme weather warning).
Speaking as a retired fire commander and fire investigator, I reject the assertion that “El Niños … raise the risk of bushfires”.
While less rainfall and hotter daytime temperatures do increase the likelihood of landscape fuels burning, they do not cause spontaneous combustion.
There’s always a reason bushfires ignite. Most commonly it’s due to human activity.
Last US fire season, a number of climate activists were convicted of arson. They were trying to “prove climate change is real”.
A smart country would manage landscape fuel-loads vigorously and proactively all year round, but we don't do that.
Instead we let fuel-loads build to dangerous levels and do too little hazard reduction burning too late.
We let greenies who don’t understand pre-1788 human land management dictate processes.
Indigenous Australians proved that landscape fuel-loads can be managed effectively with almost no technology.
Modern Australians could do so, too – but we’d need to sideline the greenies.

Were it not so tragic for our nation’s energy security, Chris Bowen’s “Homer moment” would be hilarious, (Bowen hits a Homer, 16/05).
Small modular reactor (SMR) technology has been around since the 1950s: the USS Nautilus was launched in 1954.
At least three companies are building SMRs commercially, with the only delay being regulatory approval in various nations.
The CSIRO’s Dr Grant Douglas pioneered the EUREECA process, which stores nuclear waste safely in ceramic material.
If the activist class genuinely believed that CO2 is a threat to climate they would lobby as hard for SMRs as they do against coal.

To comment on “Nuclear not an option for Australia: Bowen”, 16/05 -
It’s no surprise that “Some 150 gigawatts of energy supplies … ha(ve) been proposed by companies and investors by 2032…”, (“Nuclear not an option for Australia: Bowen”, 16/05), as they love nothing more than an income guaranteed by government and immune from market variability.
It’s easy to buy some wind towers and solar panels from China, skip over the few low regulatory hurdles, and construct an industrial wind- or solar-electricity installation when you know exactly how many millions you’ll make at the expense of Australian families, farmers, and manufacturers.
No city, state, or country has been able to “transition” to these intermittent, asynchronous, low-inertia generators. All that have tried have been able to run an extension lead to their nuclear-powered neighbours – except us.
The “renewables” fetish and the CO2 obsession have tripled our electricity bills and crippled our industries while making net zero changes to the climate. We are led by profoundly ignorant individuals.

Some of us aren't led by anyone as we believe that our parliament is there to represent the true leaders, the people. We have traitorous criminals pretending to represent us (and hardly even pretending anymore) while actually being actively at war with us. Just from the inside.

Australians, and particularly Australian women, are waking up to the destructive nature of woke culture, (Don slams woke Aussies, 17/05). We’re realising with horror that woke culture puts men pretending to be women in our bathrooms and sports events. We’re seeing the children we’re genetically predisposed to protect targeted by men pretending to be women calling themselves “drag queens”.
We’re seeing the sexualisation of children and the “normalisation” of adult-child sexual relationships being promoted by the United Nations. We know the UN is controlled by old white men. We know those same old white men run the WEF, the WHO, and a range of other so-called “peak bodies”. We’re realising they control our Labor, Liberal, and Green parties.
Throughout history our men, good men, have fought to protect us but they can’t do that if we’re on side with the men who are attacking our gender and predating on our children.

A letter for the Editor
Editor,
Mass immigration has damaged the US and it has not benefited the countries of Europe and it is notable that at the Melbourne protests on which the Prime Minister Albanese proclaims he has no tolerance for Nazis it was Antifa who were for mass migration and the Nazis who were against it.
More telling is that Antifa were for the child grooming men who call themselves drag queens while the Nazis were against such men.
It is always Antifa that is most violent and destructive at protests around the world but the leaders of nations always proclaim that Antifa’s opposites are the most significant threat and this is so because these leaders are with Antifa and against their own peaceful citizens.

The "Nazis" were fit young police officers, brainwashed young cops, like the well timed, media/government organised march of the "white supremists" in Washington DC.
ALL fit , young men......apparently being a nazi is out for women , and anyone over 35, and not in peak physical condition.
These all show us we have not to be fighting to prevent communist takeover, it has already happened. Classic laughable , idiotic, poorly performed theatre like this, like the Vicplod Nazis in Melbourne should give you hope though.
Their ignorance regarding the intelligence of the people that they are attempting to brainwash shows how dumb they are and how arrogant they are, thinking we will be taken in by it.
Vicplod in their PT gear, are not Nazis.
Nazis are socialists.
And the three misguided individuals in the country who call themselves Nazis in their back sheds, and have only decided to be one because they are sick of anti white racism, don't come to rallies all dressed the same and wouldn't chose black shorts and PT gym shoes as their uniform. The wouldn't have one at all.
It is just too funny that it's sickening.

The Cairns Post
The “uncertain economic conditions” that the RBA is trying to “navigate” are a direct consequence of Liberal-Labor UNiparty policies, (RBA is tipping years of inflation, 17/05).
From 2016 to 2020, President Trump showed the world how easy it is to make a nation prosperous and to check inflation and interest rates.
It can be summarised in Trump’s famous three-word comment, “Drill, baby, drill” because modern economies are built on cheap, plentiful hydrocarbon fuels.
We all know the globalists’ demonisation of hydrocarbon fuels is baseless because none of their climate disaster prophecies have ever eventuated.
Remember the “coming ice age” scare of the 1970s? I do, it was taught at Cairns schools just like global warming is now.
If we want low interest rates and an affordable cost-of-living we need to get rid of the woke UNiparty and vote for cheap hydrocarbon fuels.

Why don’t drag queens ever want to read for old people in nursing homes? Curious, Cairns
Universities create people smart enough to repeat what they were told and to follow orders and dumb enough to think that makes them smarter than everyone else. Juss Sayen, Cairns
"Covid kids shake it off" - yeah, that's what us know-nothing ignorant conspiracy theorists have been saying for three years. Chloe, Kuranda
I saw a headline saying "Conservatives boot Deeming" (13/05) but it was a story about the Victorian Liberals and they are not conservatives in any meaningful sense. They are CINOs, "conservatives in name only". In essence, they are leftists - just another branch of Labor. JS, Edge Hill

From the perspective of the law-abiding citizenry, what’s more expensive? Unchecked juvenile criminality? Or incarceration of juvenile criminals? Why do we give criminals luxurious conditions in prison? Shouldn’t tents with barbed wire perimeters be good enough when that was good enough for the heroes who fought for this country in wars? The “do-gooders” are destroying this country – and that’s by design. Higgs, Tolga

Over the last 20 years, renewables costing trillions have reduced the demand for hydrocarbon fuels by two per cent. There’s no “transition” happening, except in the overheated imaginations of the far-left. Higgs, Tolga
To the person or AI bot blathering about “reliable renewables”, (GCB 16/05), go ahead and explain where the power comes from when greenies block new hydro dams and there’s so many windless nights. We’ll wait.
Unlike climate alarmists, Harold (texts, 16/5), Peter Campion has never been wrong about the climate scam. If you’d like to prove him wrong go ahead and quote his exact words and your proof. I won’t hold my breath. Dana, Mossman
It costs about the same to drill an oil or gas well as build a giant wind turbine. A wind turbine can, under ideal conditions, produce the equivalent energy of a barrel of oil per hour. An oil well can produce 10 barrels of oil per hour. One barrel of oil or gas can be stored for seventy-five cents. To store the equivalent energy of a barrel of oil from a wind turbine costs $298. And renewables are supposed to be cheaper? Whatever... JS, Edge Hill
In Melbourne on the weekend there were protests by NeoNazis and Antifa. The NeoNazis were against child grooming and mass immigration. Antifa were for child grooming and mass immigration. Let that sink in for a minute. Bazza, Cairns
John Auger (CP, 16/05), sensible people feel the same way about Michael Barry Henderson, Sean McGinn, et al, who all get their talking points from the GreenLeft Weekly's and GetUp's daily emails. There's no sign of the long-promised global warming, no sea level rise (two metres by 2010), no cheaper power from renewables, and we've been waiting for 35 years. You've been had, John. Give it up. Argentina’s central bank has jacked interest rates up to 97% to deal with their 109% year-on-year inflation figure in April. How long before Albonomics duplicates that here? Hang on, mortgage belters, you’re in for a wild ride! JS, Edge Hill
Steve of the park (TTE, 17/05) is a WEF shill. Confirmed. Killing your pets is on the WEF website, Steve, but Google won't show you. You'll need to use Yandex. Who's gullible now, Steve? Maddie, Garbutt
If newspaper staff want to reduce their cost of living and the interest they pay they need to understand that the "settled science" is political fiction and that coal, oil, and gas do not cause climate change and to report these facts. The Durham Report has exonerated President Trump of the Democrats’ “Russian asset” allegations and implicated the FBI and DOJ in election interference. Last week 62 % of Americans believed the 2020 election was fraudulent – that number only grows from here. Republican, Cairns
