CP TB GCB - To comment on “Warning on fossil fuel aid”, 05/05 -
What the extreme left-wingers at “The Australia Institute” call “fossil fuel subsidies” are actually normal business inputs and not subsidies at all, (“Warning on fossil fuel aid”, 05/05). The largest of these is the Fuel Tax Credit Scheme, which is a refund of fuel tax paid by businesses which aren’t using those vehicles on the nation’s roads. Such businesses include farmers and marine operators as well as miners.
The industry that is most heavily subsidised, with money taken directly from the public and shovelled into the pockets of mainly foreign investors, is the wind and solar electricity generation industry. This is to make them “competitive”, which is an incredible abuse of the English language. If they were competitive they wouldn’t need subsidies and our power bills wouldn’t have tripled since they were first forced into the grid.

RE: Region’s budget wishlist
The Editor The Cairns Post
With his long history of achieving nothing for FNQ, I reckon Warren Entsch is backing Ron Reddicliffe’s range crossing alternative because he knows it has no chance of getting built, (Region’s budget wishlist, 05/05).
No serious person could genuinely believe that a project which massively scars the backdrop of Redlynch and dumps mud into Freshwater Creek and Crystal Cascades for decades has the remotest chance of approval.
The only reason for backing such an unsupportable project is to appear to be doing something while ensuring nothing gets done.
If Entsch were serious about resolving the range crossing problem he’d stop hiding from the one alternative that would work and which pays for itself.

An inconsistent application of the precautionary principle
The Editor The Australian
Remember back in 2020, 2021, and 2022 when governments believed in the precautionary principle?
They shut down their least-preferred sections of the economy to possibly reduce the number of people spending a few days in bed with the covid-flu.
The feds alone racked up nearly a trillion in debt with nothing to show for it to satiate their obsessive precautionary instincts.
So shouldn’t those same precautionary instincts be applied to our energy sector?
Governments are obsessively committed to ending hydrocarbon fuelled power stations despite a total absence of evidence that they cause any change whatsoever to the climate.
Shouldn’t they be ensuring their preferred replacement system works before shutting down the system that does actually work?
They’re not doing that. In fact, no city, state or nation has ever achieved a “transition to renewables”.
What they are doing is ignoring the precautionary principle and betting the entire economy on the hope they can achieve what nobody else has.
Why are so many Aussies OK with this level of intellectual inconsistency?

04/05 Hundreds of millions of cars stopped driving during the world WuFlu lockdown but there is no sign of this in the Keeling Curve graph of CO2. So why switch to electric cars when we lack the baseload generation capacity to recharge them? What's the real reason for stealing people's personal mobility? Repeatedly asserting the ice is melting when the seas aren't rising just makes left-wingers look gullible. Latest England/Wales weekly data shows excess deaths running at a frightening 22.9% This is a disaster. Something has gone seriously wrong, and its not letting up. We need to face the prospect that the mass vaccination of the population with an experimental agent which had zero long-term safety data could be the cause of these excess deaths. ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/bulletins/deathsregisteredweeklyinenglandandwalesprovisional/weekending21april2023 Higgs, Tolga The woke progressive Liberal-Labor federal government has built a trillion dollar debt with an annual interest bill of $112 billion. Divide $112 billion by 26,463,400 Aussies and the share of this debt to be repaid by each and every man, woman and child is $4,232.26. What are you getting from the federal government this year that's worth $4,232.26? JS, Edge Hill

I see that Yolonde Entsch, 7 years married to Warren Entsch, is the LNP Candidate for Cairns in next year's Queensland State Elections which are scheduled for 26 October 2024.
