"Greens rev up campaign with electric vehicle pledge" (CP, 07/04). This is how dopey the Greens are: they want to take $15,000 from poor people who can't afford new cars and give it to rich people to buy new electric cars. Worse, they think this will cut emissions when in fact most of the recharging happens at night from coal because there's no sun and the wind has dropped. All the Greens will do is waste poor people's money while doubling the cost of electricity again. Sharon, Manoora
I dunno ... I reckon with what we've seen from the police during the pandemic, the Hitler image is kinda appropriate. Gutsache, Gordonvale
Wow. A cop's car was stolen after thieves forced entry to his locked apartment and the police advice is "make sure your premises are secure"? Here's a better idea - catch and lock up the (expletive deleted) criminals!! Frank, Earlville
I can’t help thinking that this spike in youth crime and truancy seems to be a consequence of the children of the most irresponsible amongst us who were given huge payments to breed as baby bonuses about 15 years ago. Yet another own goal by government. One Tooth Wally, Cairns North
As yet another particularly quiet cyclone season draws to a close, a new analysis of Asian Category 5 typhoons has been completed. They were common between 1950 and 1970 during a cooling period when we were being warned of the coming ice age, but there were none between 1980 and 2000 during a warming period when were being warned of more frequent and more severe cyclones. This destroys the alarmist narrative of the UN. Weather Watcher, Clifton Beach
All of the issues in the Salvation Army survey (7/4) are a consequence of bad government decisions that have stripped people of hope and increased the pressure on them. And nearly all those bad decisions originate from ideas pushed by anti-humanist globalist organisations based in Europe. What a shame our governments don't govern for us. We should be the happiest and wealthiest country on earth with all the resources and space we have. Melinda, Brinsmead
Finally some truth about how many people are fully vaccinated. I live where few people have had two jabs and even they are flatly refusing more. It’s time "our" govt admitted the vaccines don’t provide immunity and gave our suspended police and nurses their jobs back, with backpay. Russell, Herberton
Are you saying that Bob Katter is just another politician for sale, Chris Calcino? I'm shocked, I tells ya, shocked! Ruby, Earlville
I agree with Bob Katter, but we should go further. Every adult with a clean criminal record should be entitled to carry a concealed sidearm and have the right to use it for self defence and defence of the home. Crime would plummet to zero and we'd become a very polite and respectful society. Even better, the gangbangers would eliminate each other rather quickly. William, Brinsmead
The Chinese hypersonic missiles were built from plans sold to them by the Clintons in 2001. The US has had them since the 1980s. Surely they have some old stock they can sell us? Oops, sorry, I forgot about Biden being the pResident now. We'll get nothing and we'll be happy. Jon, Kamerunga
Why do we even have fuel excise when we don't have a domestic oil industry to protect? Alan, Bungalow
Entertainment venues that wanted to remain afloat never checked the green tick. They just used it as a convenient excuse to keep known troublemakers out. Cedric, Kuranda
Would Mr McKinley, as a life member of the ALP and long-term Mareeba ALP branch president, please explain why youth crime is getting worse when the ALP has been in power for all but 5 years of the last 32 years? Spiro, Mareeba
Wally, Bentley Park, (CP, 07/04). Please tell us why only five islands in the Torres Strait are under threat from sea level rise when there are at least 274 of them. And if you could tell us why Seisia and Injinoo on the mainland aren't under threat that'd be helpful, too. Also, we'd like to know why only Australia's emissions matter and not China's or India's. Thanks in advance. Mariner, Portsmith
Ha ha ha, I predicted "flurona" way back in January 2021! Psychic, Cairns
Re vax booster rates - it's odd how the closer people live to the seat of power the more obedient they become. Juss Sayen, Cairns
