One thing I learned during covid is that a lot of my friends and colleagues would be absolutely useless in a zombie apocalypse. One Tooth Wally, Cairns North
George of Palm Cove (5/3), you're wasting your breath preaching against fossil fuels in the world's cleanest country. You need to take your show on the road. China produces more pollution than any other country. I'm sure they'll listen to you. Fed Up, Cairns
In breaking news, police divers are searching floodwaters for any sign of Covid-19 following its mysterious disappearance from all news media. Mr T, Cairns
Can anyone tell me why Putin went to all the trouble of getting Trump elected to then wait until Biden was in office to attack Ukraine? Curious, Cairns
George, (texts, 5/3), I take it you're a recent arrival in Australia? And you haven't read Australian history? We've always had the weather we're seeing lately. It comes in cycles, and it's nothing to be scared about. Francine, Kanimbla
Bob Katter is everywhere at the moment with the election getting closer. But he just sides with the LNP, and he can't change anything. We need to replace everyone in the current parliament - quirky old Bob included. Barry, Edmonton

Joe Biden paid Russia the money it needed to invade Ukraine by shutting down US domestic oil supply and buying replacement oil from Russia. Trader, Cairns
Surely the second-class suburb in the Daintree could get underground main grid power lines for the same $18.75 million as awarded to Volt Advisory Group? The 20MWh battery alone will cost about $20 million, plus there's bound to be blow-outs in VAG's costs. And when bulldozers move in to flatten the rainforest for the solar farm, won't the greenies all be chained to the trees? I'm not sure Warren Entsch and his greenie mates have thought this through. Riccardo, Mossman
It's interesting that it took the Russian invasion of Ukraine to expose the fact that the Russians have been training and funding the Greens in Australia and other western nations, to attack and weaken their own countries, thereby strengthening Russia. Harold, Aeroglen
Informed sources claim a recently deceased sportsman was fully vaxxed, boosted four days before his untimely departure, and had taken viagra - which would exacerbate the movement of blood clots. My question is, will his autopsy be honestly reported? MW, Redlynch
Are we certain the footage of the Russian helicopter being shot down (7/3) was from real life and not from a video game? Because video game clips have already been successfully passed off as footage. Cynic of Westcourt
Do Entschy (CP, 07/03) and the LNP lefties even know that a diesel generator can be soundproofed and set up in a rainforest and only disturb a couple of square metres? How many thousands of square metres have been permanently sterilised by that solar array? How much power will it produce during the wet season when the Daintree has endless cloudy days? These virtue-signallers from the LNP are just as misinformed as the ALP and Greens. Dennis and Jason, Port Douglas
Keith Hill (CP, 7/3), the great Pacific garbage patch is a myth. Google's images are actually of an estuary in Indonesia after a flood went through a dump. A dedicated Pacific garbage patch research vessel, equipped with 5km-long micro-sieve nets failed to find it. Their conclusion was that plastics break down from UV and wave action and become hydrocarbon food for microbes, which sceptics have been saying ever since the perpetually alarmed brigade turned their sights on the plastics we all rely on. Clint, Redlynch
Nice to see the vaccine mandates being eased for police in SA. They never were legal. Think I'm wrong? Read Section 51(xxiiiA) and Section 109 of the Australian Constitution. Chloe, Kuranda
The fact that someone somewhere flicked a switch and turned covid off confirms what some of us have said all along. It was just the flu wrapped in a cynical and costly political scare campaign. Like climate, only faster acting. Woz, Parramatta Park
You know, instead of asking for donations because they were flooded out (7/3), the people who live on river floodplains should've listened to the aboriginal elders who said "Don't camp here - it floods." Janelle, Gordonvale
Some questions about the war in Ukraine (7/3). Why is the power, water, sewerage, everything except internet, still working when utilities are usually knocked out first in an invasion? Why are all the burned out Russian vehicles from the 1970s? Surely Putin's military didn't forget the effective tactics of past wars, and forget their modern equipment, too? Confused, Cairns
The word missing in the Yarrabah jetty discussion is "dredge''. A 2.2km channel needs to be dredged to allow even shallow-draft vessels all-tide access. Whoever signed off on a jetty that doesn't reach deep enough water to be useful on all tides needs slapping. Mariner, Portsmith
"Government subsidies" for the middle class are just money taken from taxpayers and redirected back to taxpayers after fatcat bureaucrats take a chunk for themselves. This dopey government would be better off cutting out the fatcat middleman and just reduce the tax burden on families. Mr Obvious, Earlville
On the Daintree microgrid (CP, 07/03) how many rainforest trees, animals and insects were displaced by those solar panels? Also, where is there even one example of a working $1m solar to hydrogen to electricity plant? Curious, Cairns
The weather is getting a lot of attention at present. Establishment alarmists say it's man-made climate change. Disestablishmentarians say it's man-made weather weapons. It's neither. It's just El Nino and what the Californians call an "atmospheric river". We've seen it before and we'll see it again. Both sides need to calm down. Higgs, Tolga

Well, well, well - there's ScoMo in the paper (8/3) doing his duty to the Washington military-industrial complex and the Davos-class globalists and trying to arc up a nice, profitable global war to kill yet another generation of Aussie youth. You utter scumbag, ScoMo. Deanne, Cairns
Questions: if this is women's week, when is men's week? Will all the equality ladies be happy to go to the front lines if we need conscription as the Ukraine conflict escalates into WWIII? Chauvin, Cairns
"Covid drains brains of memory", (CP, 8/3). Well, our politicians will be safe then - very few of them started with any brains. One Tooth Wally, Parramatta Park
It's no surprise that the Qld govt (CP, 8/3) would want to build even more renewables that simply cannot match reliable coal and hydro generating plants. In the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine there is now ample evidence that the Russians have been training and funding the communists embedded in our govts to attack and weaken their own country from within. Harold, Aeroglen
Rick of Redlynch, why include Texas and Florida with our federal government? Texas and Florida have actually stood up for their citizens' constitutional rights - the diametric opposite of our federal government. Republican, Cairns
Surely the second-class suburb in the Daintree could get underground main grid power lines for the same $18.75 million as awarded to Volt Advisory Group? The 20MWh battery alone will cost about $20 million, plus there's bound to be blow-outs in VAG's costs. Riccardo, Mossman
Wait, what? Women have less savings than men (8/3)? Where's the evidence that's related to pay and not related to self-discipline or spending habits? Old Leathery, Cairns
RE: 'Covid drains brains of memory', (CP, 8/3). It has already been established that the virus was made in a lab and contained a genetic sequence patented by a major US drug company in 2016. The virus and the vaccines were bioweapons and are crimes against humanity. Those responsible, including some in our own governments, will be caught and they will be tried for treason. Mark My Words, Cairns
Re - Supplies on the way - I have it on good authority that railways are operated profitably. So why isn't adequate maintenance done to prevent derailments? Why, in the 21st century, don't we have duplicate rail lines? Where does all the money go? Bonuses for executives for mediocre performance? Frustrated shopper, Cairns
Funny how there were buses full of police available to suppress freedom protestors during the tyrannical covid restrictions but apparently none available to help with the flood relief efforts. Perry, Holloways Beach
To all who contacted me yesterday about cloud seeding - I know. However, heterogeneous nucleation only works locally. What we've seen with the floods is an "atmospheric river" drawn down from the equatorial monsoon zone, moderated by global electric currents. There's a whole field of science there that mainstream meteorologists don't want to talk about. Higgs, Tolga
Labor wants to spend $77m of our money on teaching respect in schools (8/3). Doesn't cost that much to buy a cane for each headmaster. Juss Sayen, Cairns
Trevor, Brinsmead, CP, 7/3, you obviously love spinning turbines - so why haven't you lobbied for some on the ridges around Brinsmead? After all, the line losses would be reduced by having them closer to consumers. You can be like Darryl Kerrigan and stand in your backyard looking up at them and marvelling at the technology. Batman, Ravenshoe
Nice to see the vaccine mandates being eased for police in SA. They never were legal. Think I'm wrong? Read Section 51(xxiiiA) and Section 109 of the Australian Constitution. Chloe, Kuranda
