What info I've been reading about Linux recently has confused me. I'm well into abandoning the tech giants but I don't know whether to go for Linux or not. Any thoughts? Ta

It actually does not matter which O/S you happen to have.
It is all about user experience and what you can do with programs that exist/operate in that O/S.
I was a paid up Microsoft accredited person for many years because work for clients.
But I started with UNIX and think Linux is great.
PS What is the info about Linux that confuses??

My computer crashed after attempting to go on a doctor's site the commos didn't want me to go to. Started in safe mode and earlier date etc, kept crashing. Finally cleared it enough to download firefox and get it up and running for now. Should not have been using chrome by now anyway.

It was just an article, can't remember where, can't find it. Who knows these days when all the world lies all the time. I tried out RED HAT Linux when it first came out... 30 years ago.
and soon after found Debian and then Ubuntu.
Over the years I have checked most Linux derivatives.
Windows 10, of which I am an actual registered user but no longer need to know, has provided a Linux=Ubuntu pathway.
Apple's operating system IOS is based on Linux.
I use the latest version of Linux Mint, based on ubuntu which is based on Debian, and despite my 14yo son's protests I have him limited to LMDE4 which is Mint's DEbian Edition.

BUT
the bloke that carried, if not created, Firefox got thrown out of his own creation and then created a browser called Brave
The upstart GAB Christian bloke, and his mob, then wrote a program that uses Brave.
thats what I use.
