A brief explanation -
Number One son got his girlfriend - now his wife - pregnant when they were both still in high school. Granddaughter Willow was born the following year. The kids were still teenagers and studying so Marilyn became sort of a surrogate mother to Willow. When we moved onto acreage here Willow was ten. Marilyn - "Granny" - and Willow used to feed the chooks and gather the eggs together every day. On weekends they would go horse riding. Now Marilyn is gone and Willow is a teenager.
I heard this song on the car radio the other day and cried all the way home. Once home I looked it up on YouTube and cried some more. Now I play it every day. Forgive an old man his foibles.
