By the way, before commovid 19, I used to be a to be a tour driver and conducted tours into some very remote areas.
One area was deep into Arnhem land where the royal race of dark skinned people let us white skinned peasants (that pay our taxes to feed, cloth and house them, supply medical services, enable them to buy grog and cars while not giving a shit about looking after any of it so we can keep repeating the process), into their area with strict rules and regulation.
We lucky low life whites got to travel and see certain things if we did exactly what were told to do, and never deface sacred areas with our wretched whiteness, and not to take photos of certain places.
To go from Maningrida up to Black Point was a definite No No because of a sacred women’s area along the way which centred around an extremely sacred Pillar. In finally gaining access to that route, no white person was to defile the areas for so far around that a four hour drive on a rough track with deep river crossing etc was to be made without stopping..From Maningrida to the turnoff to Black Point near Davidson’s camp Mount Borradaile.
No photographs were permitted also during that part of the trip and I had to really push the fact on my punters that if anyone takes a photo in the area or especially of the pillar, and the NLC find out about it, we’d lose our special privileges to go through this most sacred of sacred country. These days with people posting stuff on the net, they can find out this sort of stuff.
So I sit down in front of the television the other night and there before my very eyes, a trailer for another evil white man movie, called High Ground.
Aboriginal money…… and there is the pillar for the entire world to see, right there in the trailers.
Only sacred until it isn’t.
