It’s no surprise that the “Sun Cable” project has imploded, (), as it was riddled with technical difficulties and was to supply a product that its intended customer didn’t really want.
The 4200 km submarine cable would have had to cross one of the world’s most active tectonic subduction zones and then a vast tract of shallow water where its metal value would have made it a prime target for modern day pirates.
Singapore is quite happy with its gas-fired electricity, with the gas imported by a short pipeline, and the only advantage of importing intermittent electricity was for a song and dance routine on the international virtue-signalling stage, which, given China’s dedication to increasing emissions forever, is nothing but a ritualistic exercise in self-flagellation.
That two wealthy individuals ever thought the Sun Cable project was viable shows that becoming very rich does not require an all-encompassing technical knowledge. I wonder how all the left-wingers who have crowed about Sun Cable since its original announcement are going to cope with the shock of coming face-to-face with reality?

As far as I know, they were still able to gouge some money out of Morrison though.
