If the green-left really cared about CO2 they'd back fully mature and CO2 free nuclear power. They don't because their activism isn't really about CO2. It's really about deindustrialisation and their peculiar wish to return to the short lives filled with hard manual labour from three centuries ago. Janice, Holloways Beach
We've been belted around the ears with global warming causing climate change and killing the Reef for over 30 years, Keira of Kanimbla (CP, 8/6). It's supposed to get incrementally warmer each year. Therefore the Reef should be bleaching more each year. But it's not or we wouldn't still have a Reef tourism industry. You've got to spend your life isolated from nature to believe that stuff - which is why the dark green "independents" funded by the renewables investor took the inner city seats off the pale green Liberals. Gerald, Kanimbla
Ross Clark (CP, 08/06). Renewables only gave SA the lowest wholesale prices because of the subsidies reliables are forced to pay to them - but that subsidy arrangement gave SA the highest retail prices in Australia and the third highest in the developed world. Everywhere you look the more renewables the higher the retail prices. That's the reality, Ross. Trent, Cairns
In 2012 wholesale electricity was $40/MWh. Over the last 30 days wholesale electricity averaged $363/MWh. What changed in ten years? Renewables were pushed in and coal was pushed out. When this trickles down to your bill you can thank a greenie. Henri, Caravonica
It wasn't that the language was too complicated (Gibber thwarted Victoria's jabbers, CP, 8/6), it was that Victoria didn't have a monopoly on information. Some of the academic world's most cited experts held different views on the dangers of covid and the safety of covid vaccines claimed by Victoria and many other governments caught up in the WHO groupthink. The insurance industry and the Australian Bureau of Statistics are now noticing excess mortality in the working age demographics coerced into the jabs. It may turn out that the WHO loyalists were disastrously wrong to force all those jabs on a trusting public. Kimberly, Aeroglen
"RESOURCES Minister Madeleine King wants coal-fired power plants to come back online as Australia’s east coast grapples with an energy crisis." (CP 8/6). Well, well, well, looks like reality just bit the green-left ideologues of the former workers' party on the backside. Couldn't happen to a nicer group of fantasy land residents. Old Aussie, Cairns
A flock of sheep saw a wolf use its teeth to attack and kill one of them. They determined that teeth are dangerous, so they all removed their own teeth. But the wolf still had its teeth. Now read that again replacing "teeth" with "guns". Now read it again replacing "wolf" with "mentally ill criminal". And that's why Americans who aren't sheep will never let socialist governments steal their inalienable right to defend themselves with guns (CP, 8/6). Republican, Cairns
All the silly southerners who voted for the various greenie parties (which includes the ALP) must be astonished that $54 billion worth of renewables (enough to build 54 reliable coal plants) cannot cope with winter demand and if any of our nine remaining coal plants fail (due to lack of maintenance) they'll be freezing in the dark. Bluey Cairns
Good on you, Danny Betros (8/6), a question well asked. If PFAS is as dangerous as contended, why don't we have hospital PFAS wards devoted to the care of PFAS injured groundsmen from all the airports and military bases in Australia? PFAS is starting to smell like all the other scams the shrieking hand wringers vomit up to get their sticky mitts on our money. One Tooth Wally, Cairns North
