Keith Hill should change his name to Rusty. Because after the last two years of abuse by governments you'd have to be completely rusted on to vote for either ALP or LNP. It's time we gave someone else a go. Craig, Clifton Beach
Indigenous people already have a voice to parliament, just like everyone else. It's called a vote. Grace, Machans Beach
Would Alipa Faith and Warren Entsch please explain how you're going to pay off your trillion dollar debt now interest rates are rising? Cameron, Westcourt
OK, Catherine (9/5) what happens to our super invested on foreign stock markets if NATO manages to trigger the full-scale war they seem to want? It's safer here, plus it benefits us and not foreigners. Worker, Cairns
The unseasonal rain is a result of the recent Tonga volcanic eruption. It was an underwater eruption which instantly converted many cubic kilometres of seawater into electrically charged vapour and sent it up through the troposphere and stratosphere and into the mesosphere. As these charged vapour particles circle the earth and drift back down they seed clouds and trigger rain events. If BOM hadn't spent so much time trying to pin temperatures to carbon dioxide they'd know this, too. Weather Watcher, Trinity Beach
$11m for yet another range plan? There must be an election due. Cynic, Cairns
Harrison Oates, you're probably too young to know this, but the UN is now a communist organisation, having been slowly subverted over decades. Communists are most famous for killing their own people, particularly their youth. Yuri, Trinity Beach

For thousands of years tribal shamans have capitalised on humanities' innate fear of bad weather to leverage a bludger life living on other people's money. This still goes on today except the shamans call themselves "scientists" now and the gullible still believe them even when they're repeatedly wrong. Arthur, Parramatta Park
"...because of the half-a-billion dollars worth of produce that’s grown up on the Tablelands thanks to the Tinaroo dam,” (Senator McDonald) said. Yep, not only do fish, birds, turtles and people love dams, they help farmers grow food and they benefit the economy. Now, will you Labor and Greens supporters please explain why you hate dams? Mike, Kuranda
While crime increases the ALP state government continues to sit on its hands. Instead of fixing the problem they're facilitating the criminals. When you are robbed, remember that experience was brought to you by the ALP. One Tooth Wally, Cairns North
Where were all the US Democrats chanting "My body, my choice" when the mask and vaccine mandates were being rolled out? Chanting that again now so they can keep killing babies is just so disingenuous. What about the baby's body and the baby's choice? Ruth, Cairns
There were many fewer people and cameras and no weather radars at all in Australia when Dorothea Mackellar wrote her famous poem "My Country" over a hundred years ago, which mentioned droughts and flooding rains. Any rain now (CP,10/5) will be more observable than the same rain back then. Just don't expect politicised alarmists to comprehend that. JS, Edge Hill
Supermarkets want NZ avocados so local avocados get dumped. There's something seriously wrong with the management of the supermarkets. Angela, Yungaburra
I've been reading tide tables and marine charts all my life and I'm still waiting for the faintest evidence of climate change affecting the depth under my keel. Boatie, Cairns
The ACTU and the RBA have predicted inflation, interest rates rising and wages going backwards - and people are still voting Labor or Liberal? We really are very stupid people, aren't we? Hallina, Whitfield
Hey, Joe Hildebrand: you're a journalist, how about you ask Albo (and ScoMo) how they can keep the very expensive NDIS going AND pay back the trillion dollar debt they've run up? Graham, Westcourt
I don't know why anyone takes how to vote cards any more (10/5). Seriously, after the last two years of governments abusing their power, if you don't know who you're voting for when you leave home you should just draw flowers on your ballot. Kevin, Edmonton
Someone in this column predicted the population shift out of the cities way back at the start of the covid psycho-drama. What a shame our paid professionals in governments couldn't work out what would happen and plan accordingly. Clarice, Mooroobool
What a shame Professor Pawson didn't check into the United Australia Party's home ownership plan, because neither the ALP's or LNP's protects existing home owners from the interest pain that's coming. Allen, Cairns North
Greenies and climate alarmists are a misinformed cult, Michael Henderson and Peter Gillman (CP, 10/5). Go ahead and name just one scientific research paper that definitively links coal burning to increased temperature and changed weather patterns. I'll wait. Over-It, Cairns
"So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems." Chief Scientist Tim Flannery, in an interview with Sally Sara on ABC's Landline, February 11, 2007. Juss Sayen, Cairns
