That song I wrote in about 15 minutes, the whole thing. It came to me just like that after one of the great loves of my life and I split up. So it's a true country song! (sniff) At least I still have my dog. All the images are from some of the photos of my work travels and if people knew, some of those scenes are from remote areas in Arnhem land hardly any white person has seen or is allowed to see.
I love that it still shows what a crowded pub in Alice Springs really was, ......great Memories. And knowing the country through tour driving for example, the photos from the top Verandah of that pub with the Aussie flag....are from the Marree Pub, and that's where Sidney Kidman's room was when he spent time there coming to the then rail head and saleyards with cattle. I love all that stuff. The timbers on the floor haven't been changed. Your walking on the same floor as Sidney Kidman.
Ironically, the pub , way out in outback SA was built with English stone. Ballast brought over with the great clippers of the day, as they took back our wool and wheat. A little bit further down the road is a stone marker built by John McDowell Stuart and his men....
The place has so much history. The old Stuart highway otherwise known as the Oodnadatta track these days.
The truck at dusk was in my favourite truck overall, as we crossed the little paddock from Hay to Goolgowi. A storm brewing.... Also great history there.

And the blue and white old Kenworth T 6oo at the start I can see out my window. I still have it, on club plates. It was the truck I led the convoy of No Confidence in.
That was filmed near Cunnumulla by Mrs Struth and that was when we moved to Queensland. All I owned was in the back of that truck, including the car.

Looking at that video, which I haven't for ages, I find the vision more interesting than the song.
The campfire with the buffalo skull for example was on ground near Ramingining in Arnhem land, right where on old cattle station was set in the Arafura swamp. Set up by the man the "Bradshaw" paintings were named after in the Kimberley's....so much history there.
Just above the water line (good clean spring water for most of history) we set up camp there and upon clearing the scrub found evidence of thousands of years of grain (mortar and pastle} crushing in the natural rock.
A great massacre of whites occurred there , which of course is relegated to the politically correct forgettery.

At the very last seconds of the crowded pub scene you can see a younger "Rex The reptile man" of Alice Springs leading my then girlfriend, (the blonde) to the dance floor.
I spoke to him two days ago. He's giving up and getting out of Alice.
That reptile park he built there was his life, and he loved Alice as much as I did.
The place is fucked. Completely fucked. And Alice is like the canary in the coal mine.
The worst of Australia's socialism is practiced in places like it.
Like many he will learn. You can't run away from it. It follows you.

The first socialists into a town are, generally, city born but certainly all are university dumbed down teachers.

The first socialists into a town are, generally, city born but certainly all are university dumbed down teachers. Socialism appeals to those with a higher opinion of themselves than earned.
