It's depressing how many smart people have lost their minds over Russia.
All those Soviet Oligarchs didn't simply go, 'Poof!', and vanish at the collapse of Soviet Russia.
They had their own little corners of corruption, like the Ukraine, where they were all working to place themselves and their Soviet Evils in or behind The Big Chair that they first helped put Putin in, expecting him to be their puppet.
He outmanoeuvred them at every step & broke up their strongholds because he didn't want them turning Russia into another Ukraine.
