Two years ago we saw shops stripped of certain products, which were sent back to the country from which we'd bought them. Since then our foolish leaders have done absolutely nothing to restart manufacturing those products here, and even let one start-up fail by buying from that cheaper foreign competitor instead. Whose side are our leaders on? Patriot, Cairns
When past empires have entered terminal decline, the elites kept the masses distracted with bread and circuses. This time the supermarkets are emptying and circuses (tennis, football) are being ruined by covid rules (CP, 19/1). This could lead the masses to awaken in time to save our societies by arresting the elites who are making such a mess of everything. History Guy, Freshwater
With the doctor who invented mRNA vaccine technology strongly warning against vaccinating children for covid, I guess some journalists' kids must die from vaccine-related causes before they'll spread the true information. Mum, Bayview Heights
Stingers (CP, 19/1) breed in estuaries. Sea turtles are the major predator of their hatchlings. Who unnecessarily kills sea turtles? That's be "native title holders" in traditional tinnies with 40hp outboards. Marine Biologist, Kewarra Beach
Oh, the irony. A sports presenter who relies on free speech for a living wants Big Tech to put even more limits on free speech so she doesn't have to hear or read things she doesn't agree with (CP, 19/1). Earth to Erin: Twitter is a sewer - if you don't like crap, then don't play in it. Legless, Redlynch
John R, (19/1) in what way did the world's number one tennis player see himself as "bigger than the game?" His visa was legal and the immigration minister had to make up a "crime" to deport him. The game has been diminished by populist politicians, not by Novak. Westie, Holloways Beach
In 2022, Russia is a more democratic country than Australia. Russia isn't enforcing covid rules that are in breach of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Nuremberg Code, or their nation's Constitution. Matty, Kamerunga
Re: Ghislaine Maxwell (19/1). Apparently 151 "John Does" (customers) were mentioned in court documents. Our Virginia Giuffre is fighting for four of these names to be released. Why aren't all the names in Ghislaine's book being investigated? Shouldn't justice do that anyway? Confused, Cairns
The compulsory but unobtainable RATs tests are just one more government pandemic failure. If they'd only stuck to their old pandemic plan instead of suddenly adopting the WHO-driven counterintuitive nonsense with masks that don't filter out viruses, lockdowns that expose people to more pathogens indoors, and dangerous experimental vaccines. Brian, Manoora
Great to see Scott Morrison giving so much publicity to George Christensen. George warns us all of clear and present dangers via his podcasts, while Morrison is off hobnobbing with the WEF and selling us all out. Terry, Brinsmead
The planet's declining magnetic field is allowing in more sub-atomic particles from the sun and stars. That heats the outer layer of the lithosphere and causes additional volcanic eruptions. That puts more dust in the air, shades out the sun and causes global cooling. We need nuclear power stations - not more solar and wind. William, Edge Hill
Of NSW's 36 Omicron deaths (CP, 19/1), 33 were fully vaccinated and some were boosted, too. That info came from the NSW CHO on TV. But then she promoted vaccines. Which just seems weird when they obviously don't prevent death from Omicron. Garry, Kanimbla
The only thing that state and federal governments really had to do in regards to covid, was throw a safety net around the most vulnerable cohort - the aged in care homes. But they even failed at that, (CP, 19/01). Worst governments in Australian history. Jane, Stratford
With Warren Entsch, it's best to look for what he doesn't say. Did you notice what was missing from his comments about navy expansion (CP, 19/1)? That's right, "dredging." Mariner, Portsmith
Jennifer Spilsbury, (19/1). Two things. First, if you have no toilet paper, get in the shower afterwards. Second, if the media stopped freaking people out there wouldn't be panic buying. Mr Obvious, Earlville
Nicci Dent of Heart Research Australia (CP, 19/01) says, "Every ten minutes an Australian suffers a heart attack." Assuming that was the statistic prior to the covid vaccine roll-out, I'd love to know what it is now - because heart issues are becoming more common and nobody wants to talk about why. Rosemary, Bungalow
How did so many people become convinced they'd die from covid when the average age of covid death in Australia is still 85, which is two years older than the average age of death from all other causes? Marion, Atherton
You can tell the ALP's operatives are getting nervous about Clive Palmer and the UAP when they make up stories about "blasting holes in the Reef" (CP, 19/01). Thiele, Whitfield
"Kids driving up crime" (CP, 19/1). There it is, again, in black and white, Citizen of Cairns (18/1). "Recidivist youth offenders" not "owners committing insurance fraud." ALP rusted-ons are tiresome and boring. Joanne, Manunda
