To get some idea of the extent of "influence" peddlers you need to start with the Australian Government's Register of Lobbyists which you can view online at lobbyists.ag.gov.au/home and is part of the department of The Attorney General of Australia.
The Register is divided into 3 sections which appear to be,
- Business/Trading Names of registered lobbyist organizations of which there are 266;
- Individual Lobbyists presumably associated with the above Business/Trading Names (?) of which there are 600 entries and also indicates if they were former "Public Servants" or not; and
- Client Firms and Organizations, represented by the Individual or Business listed in the above 2 registers, and whose lobbyist is noted. There are 2,076 clients.
