We in the west know dictatorships never work even if the dictator is a really nice person and quite chummy.
It is the epitome of centralised power.
And centralised power is bad because, especially when vested in the one dictator, it is dumb, ignorant and chaotic, and unable to deliver outcomes the wisdom of crowds can deliver.
Two heads are always better than one.
Two million heads are always better than one.
Democracy works on the wisdom of the crowds, who keep the idiocies of singular ignorance to a minimum.
That singular ignorant dictator may come highly qualified in their field of expertise, they may only be said to be highly qualified, or they may be a poor performer who was nothing more than a modern diversity pick.
It matters not.No single person should be in charge of an entire state, or country.
Full stop.
In Australia, according to our long ago kicked to the curb constitution, in the event of a "state of emergency" power would rest with the Governor General of Australia, only after receiving advice from the executive government, (basically the ministers) who were reporting in from a functioning parliament.
Our state Premiers have, in effect, resigned from office and handed their states to what we can now safely conclude are people that make them look smart.
Experts.
Let's look at just one, Queensland's wonderful Dr Jeanette Young.
CMO of Queensland, which today means Comrade Making Orders (that must be obeyed)
In the responses below, please tell me where I am wrong, but this unelected nobody hasn't the brains or integrity to justify her basic salary of well over $600,000 a year, plus perks like super etc, in fact I'm fairly sure she should be paying us based on those two standards alone.
The arrogance of these types mean they truly deserve the assessment forthcoming.
To quote another .....how dare you, Jeanette, how dare you.
This is a woman so lost in her own little world that she believes it is the only one that exists, and if there are others out there, her world is more important anyway.
Your world is irrelevant and can and will be sacrificed, at will.
Without even the slightest understanding of the consequences of her actions, and full of left wing public service hubris, her orders were confused, contradictory, nasty, worked contrary to stated goals and in direct conflict to the constitution.
Some of her more memorable efforts include banning people from sitting in single seater aircraft for a flyover on Anzac day, allowing different numbers of people to attend funerals based on the colour of their skin, unconstitutional state border controls, closing down schools she knew were not dangerous, just to send a message out to those dumb bastards beneath her contempt that the Coronavirus was a serious and deadly enemy, and we needed to understand it, even though it works out she was wrong about that as well.
She was, and types like her are, the true enemy.
And let's not get into the beach bannings, the fishing "only if you are not enjoying it" bans and the literally hundreds of idiotic controls put in place by a person way out of her depth, that contradicted themselves.
I mean, seriously, it's embarrassing she calls herself Australian.
We like to think of ourselves as at least having some amount of common sense.
Am I being too hard on the woman?
I say not hard enough.
And the reason is she was so arrogant as to accept the role.
She decided she knew what was best.
We need to understand that a doctor is not a god, even a professor is usually only a single subject expert who can barely understand the world outside his chosen field, and never let these people, who have unearned tickets on themselves, near power again.
These people are not our problem now.
Our problems are to be found in those who relegated the power to them.
